Mechanism of Action of Sonata Medicine:
Sonata consists of an active component, Zaleplon. It has hypnotic properties and the chemical structure of Zaleplon is not the same as benzodiazepine. The derivatives of benzodiazepine are known as Z-medicines and are nonbenzodiazepine hypnotics.
The drug has a high tendency to connect with modulator sites of GABA-A or gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors in the central nervous system of the brain. The GABA is an inhibitory chemical messenger that prevents the transmission of chemical messages between the nerve cells.
It minimizes the response of the nerve cells to a stimulus and produces a calming effect. It helps in reducing the time duration that is required to fall asleep. This is how it improves sleep in patients.
