Fioricet is a combination of three drugs. The three drugs are acetaminophen, butalbital, and caffeine. It helps a person to get relief from tension headaches caused due to contraction of muscles. An individual can buy Fioricet online or at any nearby drugstore.

Dose and Dosages of Fioricet Tablet

It is available in tablets, capsules, and oral liquid forms with various dosage strengths-

  • Butalbital 50 mg/Acetaminophen 325 mg/Caffeine 40 mg (Blue Round Tablet)
  • 50mg/325mg/40mg (Blue Round Tablet)

Capsule –

  • Butalbital 50mg/Acetaminophen 300mg/Caffeine 40mg ( Blue Capsule/Oblong)

The tablet or capsule is taken after every four hours for panic relief. The mixture can be taken after every four hours in the form of a solution, but this should not exceed six doses per day.

Fioricet Drug Side Effects:

  • If patients experience the following side effects after taking Fioricet tablet, they need immediate medical checkup. Taking too much higher doses is also going to have side effects.

Stopping after regular use

If you’ve taken butalbital most days for weeks, stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal: anxiety, tremor, insomnia, rebound headaches, and in heavier users, seizures and delirium. People who’ve used it daily at high doses may need a supervised taper, sometimes in a clinic. The first week off is often the hardest for headaches; that’s rebound fading, not the original headache getting worse.

Is Fioricet a narcotic?

No. It contains no opioid, unless it’s Fioricet with Codeine. But butalbital is a barbiturate, which is a sedative with its own dependence risk.

Will Fioricet show up on a drug test?

Yes. Butalbital shows up as a barbiturate on standard panels that include barbiturates, and its long half-life means it can be detected for several days. Have your prescription ready.

Can I take Fioricet with Excedrin or Tylenol?

Is Fioricet safe in pregnancy?

Occasional acetaminophen is generally considered acceptable; butalbital is less clear. Regular use late in pregnancy can cause withdrawal in the newborn. Talk to your prescriber before using it while pregnant or breastfeeding.
