Overview of Ambien Drug

GABA-A is a chloride channel modulator which enhances the inhibitory effect of GABA. By this mechanism, Ambien medicine helps to treat insomnia.

Dose and Dosage Strength

Ambien is available in the form of an immediate-release (IR) oral tablet. Its dosage strength is as follows:-

Ambien 5 mg oral tablet is available in the form of capsule-shaped and pink color. The tablet is imprinted with AMB 5 on one side and 5401 is on the other.

Ambien 10 mg tablet is white capsule shaped and comes with imprinted AMB 10 on one side and 5421 on the other.

The recommended dose for adults is 10 mg before going to bed. For the geriatric and hepatic impaired patient, the advised dose is 5 mg, one time before bedtime. All these dosage strengths must be taken once at a prescribed time.

Precautions:
