Why was Opana ER discontinued?

The FDA concluded that the reformulated version’s risks, driven by a shift to injection that was linked to an HIV and hepatitis C outbreak and a rare blood disorder, outweighed its benefits. It requested removal in June 2017, and Endo complied that July.

What replaced Opana ER?

Generic oxymorphone ER remains approved. Other long-acting options include OxyContin and its alternatives (Xtampza vs. OxyContin, Roxicodone vs. OxyContin), extended-release morphine, hydromorphone ER (Dilaudid) and methadone.

Can I buy Opana ER online?
