Overview of Prozac Drug

Prozac (fluoxetine) is a type of antidepressant known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Health professionals prescribe for patients to buy Prozac online or at any pharmacy to treat mood disorders like depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) panic attacks, etc.

• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) – It develops when an individual experiences unwanted thoughts.
• Major Depression Disorder (MDD) – It is a mood disorder defined by physical, emotional, and behavioral changes.
• Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia – An individual who has panic disorder will usually experience an unexpected occurrence of intense fear. 
• Bulimia disorder – It is an eating disorder defined by binge eating. Individuals who have this type of disorder are often uncommunicative about the condition and feel ashamed and regretful about their behavior. 
• Treatment-resistant depression – This is treated by using Prozac drug with olanzapine (Zyprexa) medicine. 
• Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder (PMDD) – When women experience severe depressive symptoms before the menstrual period starts, Prozac medicine is also used to treat PMDD. 

Sometimes, Prozac medicine is used off-label to relieve symptoms like migraine, fibromyalgia, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), Premature ejaculation, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and many more. 

Dosages of Prozac Drug:

Prozac medicine comes in oral capsule form. It is available in different strengths such as 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, 50 mg, 60 mg, and 80 mg.

The starting recommended dosage of Prozac medicine is 10 mg and should be taken once a day. The maximum dose of this medicine that is recommended for adults is 80 mg, which can be taken daily. 

The maximum recommended dosage of Prozac drug for children is 50 mg for treating depression, OCD, and other disorders.

Precautions:

• Patients should not take Prozac medicine if they are currently taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI). 
• If women use this medicine during pregnancy, it may lead to negative effects in the newborn baby.
