Uses of Adipex Medication:
Apidex is a branded medication primarily used for the management of obesity in individuals. Keep in mind that Apidex drug’s ingredient Phentermine is classified as a Schedule IV controlled substance. It indicated that this drug has a high potential for drug abuse. Therefore, Apidex is generally prescribed for short-term use, typically for one week or a maximum of one month.
Uses:
People can buy Adipex online or at any medical pharmacy to treat the following problems-
Appetite Suppression –
Apidex acts by modulating the CNS (Central Nervous System) and works as an appetite suppressant, which directly targets the Hypothalamus (a structure that can be found in the deep brain) to reduce appetite.
Weight loss –
This medicine decreases the level of hunger and helps them to lose weight. The doctor approved the use of this medicine with a reduced-weight diet program, and exercises that help an individual lose weight.
Mechanism of Apidex Drug:
This weight loss medicine contains Phentermine as an active ingredient, which is a Sympathomimetic amine. It acts similarly to other prototype drugs that are used in obesity and belongs to the drug class called, Amphetamine. Drugs that are used in obesity are generally known as Anorectics or Anorexigenics. The exact primary action of Apidex is not known yet.
However, it is believed that Apidex works as an appetite suppressant by stimulating CNS with its metabolic effects. This stimulation helps increase heart rate and blood pressure that result in decreasing appetite in the person, suffering from the symptoms of obesity.
Dosage and Administration:
Effectiveness
Apidex can be taken orally with a full glass of water. An individual can experience its peak concentration effects in 3 to 5 hours after consuming a dose. However, this drug may take a couple of weeks to work properly or as intended for weight loss. The half-life of Apidex drug is approximately 20 hours.
Dosage strength
Apidex drug is available in the form of oral tablet and capsule. The commonly available dosage strength for Apidex is:
- APIDEX 37.5 mg Tablet (containing 37.5 mg Phentermine Hydrochloride)
- APIDEX 37.5 mg Capsule (containing 37.5 mg Phentermine Hydrochloride)
Dose of Adipex Drug:
The usual initial dose is Apidex 37.5 mg for most patients. One can take this dose before breakfast or 1 or 2 hours after breakfast for better appetite control. It is necessary to follow the doctor’s prescription for using this medication. However, the maximum daily limit is one capsule or tablet once a day.
Before your first dose: Adipex-P is not for you if…
Go through this list with your prescriber. The label says don’t take Adipex-P if you:
- ☐ have a history of heart disease: coronary artery disease, stroke, arrhythmia, heart failure or uncontrolled high blood pressure
- ☐ have taken an MAO inhibitor (such as phenelzine or selegiline) in the last 14 days
- ☐ have an overactive thyroid
- ☐ have glaucoma
- ☐ are in an agitated state
- ☐ have a history of drug misuse
- ☐ are pregnant or breastfeeding
- ☐ have had a reaction to other stimulant-type drugs
Use extra caution if you have even mild high blood pressure (see Natural Ways to Lower Blood Pressure), diabetes (insulin or other diabetes medicines may need adjusting as you eat less), severe kidney disease (maximum 15 mg a day), or you take an antidepressant. Some antidepressants affect weight too; see Antidepressants That Cause Weight Loss.
The morning routine
☀️ How to take Adipex-P
- When: before breakfast, or 1–2 hours after breakfast
- How much: one 37.5 mg tablet or capsule, or the half-tablet dose your prescriber gives you
- Never: late in the day. It can keep you awake at night.
- Missed it? Take it if it’s still morning. If it’s afternoon, skip it and take the next dose tomorrow. Never double up.
- With it: a full glass of water, and keep a water bottle with you (dry mouth is common)
Your first 12 weeks
Day 1: The first morning
Within a few hours of your first dose, you’ll likely notice you’re less interested in food. Some people also feel more alert or a little jittery, and your heart may beat faster than usual. That’s the medicine’s stimulant effect. Eat a proper breakfast and lunch even if you’re not hungry. Skipping meals entirely can backfire with headaches, lightheadedness and overeating later.
Week 1: Adjusting
This is when side effects are usually most noticeable: dry mouth, trouble sleeping, constipation and an unpleasant taste. Most people find they ease as the week goes on. To help:
- Take your dose as early as you can.
- Cut back on caffeine; it adds to the jitters and the insomnia. See How to Cure Insomnia.
- Drink more water and eat more fiber.
Plan your meals now, while your appetite is lower. A structured plan such as a 7-Day Diet Plan for Weight Loss helps you build habits that will outlast the medicine.
Weeks 2–4: The habit window
The early weight loss is often the fastest, partly from water. This is when the medicine does its most useful work: it makes it easier to stick to smaller portions while you learn new habits. Focus on protein at every meal to protect muscle while you lose fat (see Best Protein Powders to Lose Weight), and on foods that keep you full (see Foods to Prevent Obesity).
You may notice the appetite effect fading. The label says tolerance usually develops within a few weeks. Don’t take more to get it back. Tell your prescriber; the label says the drug should be stopped rather than increased.
Week 12: The checkpoint
By now, your prescriber should check your weight, blood pressure and heart rate, and decide with you whether to stop or switch.
Is it working? The 12-week checkpoint
Obesity guidelines commonly use one simple test: if you haven’t lost at least 5% of your starting weight after about 12 weeks on a weight-loss medicine, it probably isn’t the right one for you.
| Starting weight | 5% goal |
|---|---|
| 180 lb (82 kg) | 9 lb (4 kg) |
| 220 lb (100 kg) | 11 lb (5 kg) |
| 260 lb (118 kg) | 13 lb (6 kg) |
If you’re not there, ask about other options. Some, like Contrave, Qsymia or the GLP-1 medicines, are approved for long-term use. See Alternatives to Phentermine and Adipex vs. Contrave.

When you stop
Adipex-P doesn’t usually need a long taper after a short course, but some people feel tired, low or hungrier for a week or two afterwards. Ask your prescriber how to stop if you’ve taken it for a long time or at a high dose. Keep the habits from your first 12 weeks going; that’s what protects the weight you’ve lost.
