Oxycodone hydrochloride is used as an active ingredient in the brand-name, Roxicodone. The Oxycodone HCl also acts as a generic variant medicine. Roxicodone 15 mg is an opioid-based painkiller that helps to get relief from the pain.

This is a therapeutic action by which it produces analgesic effect, and it helps to reduce severe pain in patients.

Forms, Dose & other Dosage Strength:

It comes in the form of an oral tablet with the following dosage strengths, such as:-

• Roxicodone 5 mg
• Roxicodone 30 mg

Administration:

It is a prescription-only medication and nominal dose starts with the dosage strength of 5 mg to 15 mg. It is suggested that the dose should be repeated in 4 to 6 hours on a regular basis.

A doctor determines the dosage strength which can be altered by considering the intensity of pain, the significance of the treatment or patient’s response to the treatment.

Precautions:

There are some safety measures that include-

• The consumption of grapefruit and its juice is not suggested while taking this medicine.
• Never mix alcohol with the drug, it may increase fainting (dizziness) and excessive sleepiness (drowsiness) in individuals.
• A patient should tell a doctor about his or her medical history before starting the treatment.
• Don’t stop the drug suddenly.  It may cause fatal withdrawal symptoms. It is better to narrow down the dosage strength slowly to avoid opioid withdrawal syndrome.
